From a quiet riverside fishing village beloved of Goans, Siolim has evolved into a thriving creative hub. From beautiful Portuguese-Goan ‘casa do sobrado’ style architecture like St Anthony’s Church, as well as a host of traditional cafes, boutiques, markets and seafood restaurants, there is plenty to see and do here.
Days begin slowly here: coffee on the vaulted rooftop terrace, a beach stroll, a swim.
There are numerous white sand beaches within 10 minutes of the villa. Our favourites are Arambol and Ashvem for a beach run, meditation and a tranquil spot to watch the sunset. Morjim is well-loved for water sports.
Every morning, fishers descend into the Chapora river on small boats and then sell their fresh catch to Siolim’s restaurants by bicycle.
For fresh local produce, Siolim’s many colourful markets are on the doorstep, as well as a local Fromagerie offering the best of local artisan cheeses. The weekly Church Bazaar market, a short walk from Siolim House, sells homemade food and ingredients while the bustling daily fish market is a hive of activity as fishermen bring their catch from river boats.
When it comes to restaurants, we are spoilt for choice. You’ll find the morning’s fresh fish in Siolim’s numerous restaurants: catfish, prawns, crabs, tisrios (clams) and shenanios (mussels), prepared the Goan way with fresh coconuts picked from the trees. International cuisine abounds too: from Japanese and South Indian cuisine to the perfect Italian gelato minutes from our door.
In our corner of Goa, those looking for the party head to Vagator and Anjuna beaches for the best of local nightlife. Here you’ll find over 250 bars and restaurants, beach parties and international concerts from some of the world’s most celebrated musicians and DJs.
